We are excited to welcome Madyson Varnes back to the Baptist University of Florida! Originally from Starke, FL, she first came to Graceville in 2016 to attend what was then the Baptist College of Florida, graduating in 2019 with her B.A. in Psychology. Since then, she has made the tri-county area her home, building strong community connections. She recently completed her Master of Science in Education at Troy University, spent four years working in education (including as a K-2 School Counselor), and has served in women’s and youth ministries across Jackson County, the Dothan/Wiregrass region, and Holmes County. She has also just begun pursuing her Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) degree here at BUF.
In her new role as Administrative Assistant for the School of Arts and Sciences and Adjunct Instructor in the Psychology program, Varnes will be reviewing documents, answering emails, and teaching both online and in the classroom. As a proud BUF alumna, she is passionate about Christian higher education and is eager to equip students to approach their studies through a biblical lens, helping them become professionals of good faith, good character, and good work ethic. Her faith shapes every aspect of her work, guided by Colossians 3:23 and Mark 12:30-31, and she strives to love God and serve others in all she does.
Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her two cats, playing board games with friends, reading, baking sourdough, and trying new crafts. A fun fact: she has worked in three coffee shops and can make a mean latte, even if her latte art is a little rusty. Her favorite passage of Scripture is Jude 24-25, a reminder of God’s power to protect and sustain His people. We are grateful to have her back on campus and look forward to the impact she will have on our students and community.
